CBM Calculator
Volumetric Weight & Shipping Volume
Master Your Shipping Costs with CBM Calculation
In international logistics, space is money. Whether you are an exporter shipping a pallet by sea or an e-commerce seller using air courier, carriers calculate freight charges based on whichever is greater: the Actual Weight or the Volumetric Weight.
The GungorKaya.com CBM Calculator is designed to help you instantly determine the "Chargeable Weight" of your shipment. By knowing this in advance, you can optimize your packaging and avoid surprise costs from carriers like DHL, FedEx, or freight forwarders.
Understanding Volumetric Weight
A large box of cotton is light but takes up a lot of space. A small box of steel is heavy but small. Carriers use a "DIM Factor" to balance this:
- Air Freight: Typically uses a divisor of 6000 (1 CBM = 167 kg).
- Courier (Express): Typically uses a divisor of 5000 (1 CBM = 200 kg). This is more expensive.
- Sea Freight (LCL): Charges are usually based on CBM volume, unless the cargo is extremely dense (1 CBM > 1000 kg).
Why Use This Tool?
Our calculator allows you to switch between these modes (Air, Sea, Courier) with a single click. It converts inches, centimeters, and meters automatically, ensuring your quote request to your forwarder is accurate and professional.
